Revisiting Convergence 2007
San Diego, CA March 11-14

The theme of Convergence this year was helping customers build a connected business resulting in new levels of companywide productivity. This strategy will be accomplished in the following way:

Connecting Business Vision and Software

Microsoft is
making software that is easy to integrate with a company's existing systems, more relevant to the specialized needs of a particular industry, and easier to change and adapt to support new business opportunities.

Building Connections Between People and Processes  Microsoft Dynamics is unlocking data and information for everyone in an organization and helping people be more productive by easily accessing the data as part of their jobs.

Connecting Companies with Communities  Microsoft will help customers extend the capabilities of Microsoft Dynamics solutions beyond the four walls of their companies to build richer connections with their community of customers, suppliers and partners.

Microsoft also announced the upcoming June release of Microsoft Dynamics GP 10.0.  Version 10.0  includes more than 100 new core application features, a new user interface similar to that of Windows Vista and Office 2007, enhancements to business intelligence, a new workflow engine, and integrated search capabilities.

Why Employees Hate to Track Their Time - And What You Can Do About It
by Curt Finch, CEO of Journyx

Some people really don't want to track their time even when their managers are very firm. Why is this? Why do people find tracking their time so unpleasant, or even maddening? My experience has shown that it is for many reasons.

Reason 1: Reporting time can threaten status.

Reason 2: "What if I find out that I don't work as much as I like to think?"

Reason 3: Time is an imperfect metric for effort and productivity.

Reason 4: "I'm too busy"

Reason 5: "I've procrastinated too long-and now I don't remember what I did last week."

GP 10.0 Highlight

The upcoming release of Microsoft Dynamics GP 10.0 includes approval workflow  - the routing of a document or batch to individuals for approval.  The approval workflow uses notifications, email or desktop alerts in Microsoft Dynamics GP to notify a user of an action that they need to perform or to provide information regarding the object that is in workflow.
