Support Ends in 2012 for FRx Financial Reporter

The end date for mainstream support for FRx Financial Reporter has been moved up to October 9, 2012.  Microsoft FRx will continue to be supported through the Microsoft Dynamics GP 10.0 product lifecycle.

The latest release of Management Reporter (MR), the replacement for FRx, contains key features that FRx customers have been waiting for, including currency translation support for Microsoft Dynamics GP and integration with Microsoft Forecaster.

The integration to Forecaster will allow MR customers to include budget data from Forecaster on their financial statements.

Please talk to your consultant about the implication of this change. Read more information on Microsoft's Support Lifecycle

Greetings from Sherwood Systems

Could you be breaking the law by not archiving e-mails?

by By Diana L. Spurgus, Posted by AccountingWEB

emailsThink about it - almost all of your business communications and negotiations are performed via e-mail, making them important documents to keep for reference.  And since you send and receive hundreds if not thousands of e-mail messages annually, it just makes sense to have a simple and easy way to find old communication threads. But this isn't just a convenience issue, it's a legal one.

What Every Business Is Required By Law To Do
Some industries have strict federal guidelines on storing e-mail communications (financial institutions for example). But what most people don't realize is that ALL businesses must comply with the Federal Regulations on Civil Procedures, or FRCP. In this instance, ignorance is far from bliss - it could put you and your organization in serious legal trouble.

Tips & Tricks

Open Old Documents in Microsoft® Office® 2010

In Microsoft® Office 2007 you would often get an error message when you tried to open old Microsoft® Word® or Excel® files since old files were seen as a potential security risk.  In Office 2010 you can now override these blocks.

Within Microsoft Word or Excel

  • go to File, Options, Trust Center, Trust Center Settings
  • then select File Block Settings
  • Once you are in this screen you can then remove the checkmarks from the older Office or Excel files that you want Microsoft Word or Excel to open.
