Get a headstart on spring cleaning!

Now that 2007 is complete and 2008 is here, this a great time to make sure your Timeslips and Time Matters databases are in good working condition.  Databases are just like automobiles, so they need some preventative maintenance now and again.

Start by making sure you are on the latest release for the version of your software as detailed below.  Sage and LexisNexis have recently made service releases available for the current versions of their software.  It is important to be on the latest release.

Next, make sure your workstations are in good shape by clearing temporary files and staying current with Windows updates.

Now give some thought to doing some maintenance on your database.    Can you remove or inactivate old matters or timekeepers for example?  Make sure to consider the impact these actions might have on management reporting.

We can help you plan the best strategy to address these issues.  Please contact Allen for assistance at 602-943-9696 x106 or via email

Thank you for an excellent 2007 and I look forward to helping you in 2008!

Please note the Timeslips training class schedule for February-April.  We will finalize the schedule for May-July shortly.  Please don't hesitate to contact me for specialized training at our training center or in your office.

This year I would like to revive our Timeslips User Group meetings.  I am considering two meetings, one in May and one in November.  Please let me know if you would like to attend and if you have topics of interest to you.

This past week I had the pleasure of attending Express Digital's Client Kickoff seminar.  They put on a first class event as always.

I am looking forward to their next event at the AIIM conference at the APS Center in downtown Phoenix on Thursday, February 7.  Please let me know if you are interested in attending.

If your firm is interested in learning more about Electronic Content Management (ECM) and compliance, let me introduce you to Express Digital Solutions to see what they can do for you!

Tips & Tricks

Did you know that you can turn off Timeslips features you don't need using Features Enabled?  As an example, you can turn off the extra and time estimated fields in a slip entry screen if you don't use them.

Did you know that archiving old records can help keep Time Matters running faster?  Archived records can be viewed on contact and matter sublists as well as in the file menu and then archives.

Please forward your questions on Timeslips and Time Matters to Allen via email and he will answer them in a future edition of the newsletter.
