Microsoft Dynamics GP Classes

Accounts Payable for Microsoft Dynamics GP

This half-day, hands-on training class reviews the basics of using Accounts Payable in Microsoft Dynamics GP including entering transactions and printing checks, placing and releasing holds, voiding transactions, reconciling payables and printing reports. See Agenda. See Student's Quotes

Data Mining in Microsoft Dynamics GP

Learn how to get the data you need out of your Great Plains (GP) databases using basic SQL queries or commands. Topics include the key tables in each module, the flow of data through the application, table relationships, and the oddities and "gotchas" when looking directly at GP data in SQL.  Note: A familiarity with both the Microsoft Dynamics GP application and Microsoft SQL Server is recommended. This 2-day class, designed for beginning Management Reporter (MR) students, is a MUST for accounting professionals who write, generate or work with the financial reports. This half-day, hands-on training class covers the basics of using the General Ledger in Microsoft Dynamics GP including entering GL transactions, performing account inquiries, running reports, setting up and importing budgets, and running period end routines. See Agenda

Microsoft Dynamics GP Technical Training

This half-day, hands-on training class covers the Great Plains (GP) basics from a technical viewpoint.  Students will learn about the databases used by GP, how to backup and restore these databases, and how to keep on eye on the 'health' of their environment. They will learn about specific files and their use on the GP workstations, and how to perform basic troubleshooting. This class is appropriate for IT administrators who need more information about GP, as well as for non-technical GP users who would like to learn more about their system. See Agenda

Purchase Order Processing for Microsoft Dynamics GP

This all-day, hands-on training class reviews the basics of Purchase Order Processing (POP) in Microsoft Dynamics GP including entering purchase orders, receipts and returns, entering drop-ship and blanket purchase orders, entering landed costs, running reports and inquiries, and reconciling and removing history.

Sales Order Processing for Microsoft Dynamics GP

This all-day, hands-on training class reviews the basics of Sales Order Processing (SOP) in Microsoft Dynamics GP including defining setup options, creating sales documents, allocating and fulfilling item quantities, linking sales orders to purchase orders and running reports and inquiries. Also covered is how SOP interacts with Inventory, Purchase Order Processing and Accounts Receivable.

SmartList for Microsoft Dynamics GP

This hands-on class explores SmartList, a great inquiry tool in Microsoft Dynamics GP that can be used to access data. SmartList uses sets of predefined search criteria. The user may create an unlimited number of searches or views and save them as “Favorites” in the system. SmartList also allows you to access other Microsoft Dynamics GP windows related to the data contained in your search. Additionally, data collected using SmartList may be exported to Microsoft Word or Microsoft Excel for further analysis. See Agenda

SmartList Builder for Microsoft Dynamics GP

This hands-on class explores SmartList Builder, a tool that allows you to create your own SmartLists for 3rd party products in Microsoft Dynamics GP. Using this tool, you can access data within Microsoft Dynamics GP, as well as information in SQL tables outside of GP. You can set field options, such as the number of decimal places, for each type of data field as well as Go To links, which allow the user to open or access a record from a SmartList. The class will explore placing restrictions on the information that is shown and using calculated fields within a SmartList. Exporting from and importing to XML will also be discussed, along with setting user security.

SQL Server Reporting for Microsoft Dynamics GP

SQL Server Reporting Services (SRS) is a server-based reporting platform used to create, modify and deploy reports, which can be viewed and managed over a World Wide Web-based connection. Microsoft Dynamics GP contains a number of predefined SRS reports. This class will explore using the Report Designer to plan, create, modify and publish SRS reports. We will also cover creating new reports using the Report Wizard and the Report Builder, a user-friendly tool for creating reports against GP data without needing a deep technical knowledge of the database. Note: A familiarity with both the Microsoft Dynamics GP application and SQL Server is recommended. See Agenda

Timeslips Classes

Timeslips Basic Training

This half-day, hands-on training class covers Timeslips basics including entering time and expense slips, entering shortcuts and abbreviations, searching for slips and printing reports. Students will learn about creating new clients, timekeepers, tasks and expenses and how to create beginning Accounts Receivable balances. This class is appropriate for Timeslips beginners or those users who have not worked with the program recently.

Timeslips Intermediate Training

This half-day, hands-on training class covers Timeslips intermediate topics including preparing for billing, formatting and printing bills, working with transactions and setting up billing arrangements. Students will also learn about split billing and reporting. This class is appropriate for Timeslips intermediate users.

Timeslips Advanced Training

This half-day, hands-on training class covers Timeslips advanced topics including security, managing a Timeslips database, customizing Timeslips Today and working with alerts. Students will also learn about creating custom reports, importing and exporting bill layouts and the use of the Station Administrator and Data Verification functions.

All classes, unless otherwise noted, are held at our Phoenix Office, 1717 E Morten Ave, Suite 270, Phoenix, AZ 85020. All classes are on the 2nd floor with no elevator. We apologize for any inconvenience, but we are not handicap accessible. Class size is limited to 10. Spaces will be reserved on a first come, first served basis. Your spot is confirmed once we receive payment.

Payment Policy - Payment must be made prior to attending class. Sherwood Systems accepts checks as well as VISA and MasterCard. To pay by credit card please contact Pauline Zorz at (602) 943-9696 X101.

Cancellation Policy - Classes are subject to cancellation by Sherwood Systems if registration does not meet the required attendance level. Cancellations by Sherwood Systems will be made 1 week prior to the start date of the class. If you cancel your confirmed attendance up to 5 days prior to the start date of the course, 100% of the course fee will be refunded. Less than 5 days prior to the start date of the course, 50% of the course fee will be charged. Failure to attend a class without notifying Sherwood Systems within 24 hours prior to the start of the course will be considered a ‘no show’ and the entire course fee will be forfeited.

In order to receive the discount on the 2nd (or more) registrant from the same company, both must attend the class. If the 1st registrant does not attend the class, the 2nd registrant will be charged the higher rate.
